| On stages and records, the most important names from national and international music made part of the life's soundtrack of this singer, songwriter, guitarist (actually a multinstrumentist), arranger and producer. Names like Michel Legrand, Paul Mauriat, Jon Hendricks, Jane Duboc, Ivan Lins, Leny Andrade, Tito Madi, Joyce, Raul de Souza, Hermeto Paschoal, Johnny Alf, Tim Maia, Flora Purim, among others. From Ribeirão Preto to the world, Filo´s virtuosity and talent allowed him to travel around the globe to The USA, German, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Japan, besides playing at “Rendez Vous Brasil/Cuba”, with the saxophonist Jane Bunnet, through Canadá. He also composed songs in partnership with Djavan, Aldir Blanc, Sérgio Natureza, Taiguara, Judith de Souza, Sérgio Ricardo and Fátima Guedes, participated in several Jazz festivals such as Corsega e Uzeste, in France and was the opening act to Nina Simone´s concert at Cannes Jazz Festival. On 2000, were the North Americans who enjoyed the great music of Filo Machado. His album “Cantando um Samba”, released by Malandro Records (Ohio – USA), received a lot of complements from the specialized critics of jazz, and even world music, on important magazine publications such as Down Beat, Jazziz, Jazz Now and Rhythm, besides being among the 44 titles nominated to the Grammy awards 2001, for best Latin jazz album. “Cantando um Samba” took Filo Machado to the world temple of music: with the conductor Ettore Stratta and producer Pat Philips' invitation, whom he shared the Carnegie Hall stage with in New York, among Gal Costa, Dory Caymmi, Toots Thielemans, César Camargo Mariano, Jane Monheit, Romero Lubambo and Paula Robison, at the concert “40 anos de Bossa Nova”. The path to the Snug Harbor, in New Orleans, or The Bird of Paradise Jazz Club, in Ann Arbor and even the Night Town, in Cleveland was just natural. After all, the American tour was the fourth of Filó Machado's year, who also performed on Canada (at Una Mas, Toronto), Japan (at Takasaki and Tokyo) and Denmark (at Jazz House, Copenhagen). On 2001, the record company Lua Discos released the album “Porto Seguro” with new songs and new interpretations of Filó Machado. Jam-packed with Brazilian music, Maracangalha from Dorival Caymmi and Maria Três Filhos, from Milton Nascimento and Fernando Brant, are important songs to be mentioned. On other tracks, talent people such as Arismar do Espírito Santo, Léa Freire, Proveta, Robertinho Silva and Laércio de Freitas – made a real spectacle of “pearls” as the song Novo Testamento, made with Nei Lopes or Quatro Elementos, with Aldir Blanc. After distribution of the album titled Jazz de Senzala, produced by the record company Maritaca, with a lot of special participations as Toninho Horta, Arismar do Espírito Santo, Léa Freire, Vinícius Dorin, Teco Cardoso and Thiago do Espírito Santo, besides Théo de Barros as an arranger, the artist released the album Tom Brasileiro (by Lua Music), with the singer Cibele Codonho, an honour to Tom Jobim, and the album Brazil Connection with the renowned Japanese bass player Tetsuo Sakurai. Filo and Tetsuo went on tour through Japan and Indonesia on 2006. On 2007, Filo directed and arranged the concert “Era Iluminada” with important artists from old and new generation, Roberto Menescal, João Donato, Joyce, Miucha, Claudete Soares, Adriana Godoy, Giana Viscardi, Dj Patife e Dj Madzoo. Subsequently Filo went to the Ecuador jazz festival, participated with a lot of success such as a special guest on João Donato´s concert at Auditório do Ibirapuera, and also as a special guest on Sergio Ricardo´s concert on Theatro Municipal in a project called Virada Cultural, in São Paulo. Again with João Donato, Filo made a memorable concert at SESC Vila Mariana. Afterward Filo went to Guayaquil to perform on the opening of the concert house Casaluna. On December 2007, he direct once again the concert “Era Iluminada” but this time with the participation of Rosa Passos, Roberto Menescal, João Donato, Adriana Godoy, Giana Viscardy, Miucha, Cladette Soares e Miéli. On January 2008, Sergio Ricardo and Adriana Luft invited Filo to be a guest on their concert. Nowadays he´s preparing the release of the albums “Salve America” and “Ubida”, being the first acoustic guitar and voice album as well as Ubida brings the presence of Kenny Barron, César Camargo Mariano, Romero Lubambo, Paulo Braga, Nilson Matta, Teco Cardoso e Steve Turre. |
